Thank you for an amazing time! These four years have been absolutely awesome, but it's time to move on and let some new blood in. I can't believe that small beta is now a buzzing site and a reference for graphic design. Through this site I met some pretty amazing people I will always treasure. I'll stick around as a normal civilian, and try my hardest to ...

You wanted answers? You got 'em! Prepare for a wall of the stream-of-consciousness ramblings of a madman! I take full responsibility, including typo's, stupid jokes and unfinished sente If you want more info on anything, you'll probably find me in chat. What is your relationship, interest and experience in the field of Graphic Design? I took some ...

CAI FOR MAYOR!! One of the most delicate situations is flags and issues with long time members. Some more than others feel a sense of entitlement which they have valid reasons for. At the same time, we need to recognize the delicate line between respecting all that they've done for the community and acknowledging when they're perpetuating issues or putting ...

It's an honor to have been elected to be part of the moderator team and I am humbled by the community's vote of confidence. I look forward to learn the ropes and help this community thrive. A big thank you to WELZ for running in this election. You have been contributing so much since you have joined and I hope this continues! Last but most importantly, ...

This site has always seen a significant influx of low quality questions, especially tech support. This is unlikely to ever change, because it seems for a lot of beginners graphic design equals design software. Recent initiatives have sought to alleviate this issue. Although these are a good start, they alone will not stop the torrent of low quality and tech ...

Emilie A moderator role that is unusually relevant in this community (as opposed to others) is taking “political” initiative, i.e., steering the community by means of meta posts and similar. What are your ambitions in this respect? Are there any pressing issues you would like to address and how do you plan to do so? I’ve partly answered this ...

Yes I would also like to thank the moderators who served beta: PearsonArtPhoto Alan Gilbertson Philip Regan Jaips Farray You guys did excellent work and thank you for contributing to Stack's Graphic Design board.

How would you react to and deal with a user who is in disagreement with something you've said or with one of the decisions you've made? I would discuss it with them and illustrate precedence as to why any decision was made. I'd be very sure to include related Meta Conversations, FAQ or TOS that is relevant to show that I was merely enforcing the will of the ...

GDSE has a few sister sites on the SE network that can be seen as close to our core theme, or at least affiliated. A few examples: ux.se, e.g. UI design, usability blender.se, e.g. 3D design arts & crafts, e.g. print & physical media photography.se, e.g. post-production computer graphics, e.g. image processing the 3D.se proposal was sadly closed ...

Congrats guys look forward to working with you behind the scenes.

How would you react to and deal with a user who is in disagreement with something you've said or with one of the decisions you've made? Discuss with the user. We have a chat room for reasons beyond cat gifs, and I think respectful discussion is always key. We're all adults here. Even when you're a minor. I am able to be swayed by good and well-motivated ...

Yisela will always be the queen of GD.SE in my book!! Glad everything is working out for her and she will be missed.

I'd congratulate you @Vincent, but I'm not sure if that would be "trolling".

I considered giving it a shot considering I think I have a good background for this but the amount of time I can dedicate is limited by current life circumstances. What are the community's/network's expectations with regards to time investment for moderators?

If something or someone infuriates you, and there seems to be a boiling flamewar underway, what tactics would you try?

What do you see as being GD.SE's unique position or role in the design world? How do you intend to strengthen that? Or to put it another way, how would/do you 'sell' this site to designers who've never heard of it? What do you see as our USP (Unique Selling Proposition) or key strength?

Thanks to Ryan, Dom and Muhammad for being worthy opponents! And of course thanks everyone for their votes of confidence. I'll try not to screw up too much :)

It's a bit difficult to answer this question without first coming to an understanding of how moderation is currently getting done... So, let's do that. Here are some statistics on various moderator actions performed during the past 365 days, separated into two columns: Moderators means people with diamonds next to their names; Community means both people ...

Recently there have been meta discussion about low-effort questions in general and tutorial-on-demand type questions specifically, see here and here. The consensus, after plenty of debate, seems to be to allow them and have the close-vote and flagging system take it's course. Even if this might mean more questions in the queues. - What is your stance ...
