In order to promote high-quality font-identification questions, we ask that you follow a specific format. If your question has been placed on hold, please edit it to meet the following criteria: ✔ DO: Detail what you’ve attempted already to try and identify your font There are a few resources out there that can automatically identify your font. The tag ...

They should stay. I mostly think them annoying. Quality is often low: askers don't include images, include them in the wrong way, are curt and rude, don't mark the correct answers, and often lack the rep to upvote them. I don't know whether to edit them to improve or leave them alone. Personally, I wouldn't miss them. But. It's always been my opinion ...

Yes, allow them. If you think it's a bad question, downvote it. If you think it's off-topic, vote to close it. If you don't like them, ignore them. I'm not going to defend low-effort questions, but I do not think they should be deemed off-topic. Here's why: High effort answers have much greater value than high effort questions. I don't have the time to ...

This is comparatively harder to read now. The left is the old site, the right is the new: Notice how much darker and smaller the text is now! You’ve dropped the x-height by a whole bunch and picked a much darker color for the text. Darker text requires more leading than lighter text does. Ditto longer measures. Here’s the difference in the ...

Congrats Emilie!!! Enjoy your ♦ It was a good race, thanks for stepping up! :D

Overall I like the sleek, clean, appearance. Color choices are quite good. I'm not really sold on the "clown's nose" logo. I feel it shows no real interaction with the site name and somewhat falls into the "throw some symbol on top of some centered text and call it a logo" genre. I understand the logical path the design took. I'm merely not fond of the end ...

Additionally, in discussing what happened with the StackExchange Staff and moderators from other SE websites it is clear that at times we've been too lenient in both chat and the Q&A. That must stop for the good of the website. This might mean: Comments that were previously viewed as so-so are no longer acceptable. Comments that have some on-topic, ...

To be honest, you should have known you were going to catch some wind asking a bunch of designers about a design you're forcing on them. So here goes my honest feedback. Some of it is constructive, some isn't, deal with it. Why all the borders everywhere? They just make the design heavier, and don't add anything. Please give us at least our colour back. ...

Thank you for an amazing time! These four years have been absolutely awesome, but it's time to move on and let some new blood in. I can't believe that small beta is now a buzzing site and a reference for graphic design. Through this site I met some pretty amazing people I will always treasure. I'll stick around as a normal civilian, and try my hardest to ...

Good question. I regularly wonder myself, because I also teach Adobe software and design to live students. Their noob questions don't bother me at all, so why do tutorial-on-demand (TOD) questions on here bother me that much? A lot of them are very lazy. I don't want to know how often I've added a comment with the approximate meaning 'I don't mean to be ...

You wanted answers? You got 'em! Prepare for a wall of the stream-of-consciousness ramblings of a madman! I take full responsibility, including typo's, stupid jokes and unfinished sente If you want more info on anything, you'll probably find me in chat. What is your relationship, interest and experience in the field of Graphic Design? I took some ...

Q&A for Graphic Design professionals, students, and enthusiasts Kind of like Electrical Engineering's tag: Q&A for electronics and electrical engineering professionals, students, and enthusiasts

This is a tough one. Ideally, graphic designers who have software questions should ask that here. But we do seem to get a lot of non graphic designers who are simply too lazy to google a photoshop tutorial. The problem with the latter is that having a site just for that is pointless. No one wants to hang around a SE site answering lazy questions. So I ...

CAI FOR MAYOR!! One of the most delicate situations is flags and issues with long time members. Some more than others feel a sense of entitlement which they have valid reasons for. At the same time, we need to recognize the delicate line between respecting all that they've done for the community and acknowledging when they're perpetuating issues or putting ...

HATS UPVOTE THIS IF YOU WANT HATS Here's an ASCII hat-wearing head because apparently this needs to be 30+ characters .----. / \ |=[-]==| (`.--.____.---.'\ `-./<.><.>'\\_.' | /. .|| \:-: .' `-'

errrr.... Let's see... how can I possibly write enough to meet the minimum character requirements and say..... too cool and thanks! :) Update 08.27.14 -- Got mine today as well. Nice stuff. Thanks again!

Note I: The [user] bit of the following should be replaced manually with the user's name. It doesn't add it automatically! Alternatively, you can use the userscript to convert [user] to the OP's name automatically if you'd like. Note II: You can find the comments shortcode options here. Questions Welcoming a New User Hi [user], welcome to Graphic ...

I agree, sadly. We are trying to regulate what seems hard to get a grasp on in the first place. I too welcome more open and even more opinion based questions. The problem is that when we "open up" we are flooded (or it alt least feels like that) questions that we would even avoid at work. Tech support, mundane tasks and tutorial requests. So the challenge ...

Yey, hats! http://designtaxi.com/news/359377/The-King-Of-Sweden-Likes-To-Wear-Silly-Hats/faq/ Or, I don't want hats personally, but I'll opt out as an individual, which means I'll stay hatless and I won't see anyone else's hats. http://imgur.com/gallery/MzVGwqg

Nice, you very nearly did the impossible - very nearly getting a bunch of designers from around the world to agree on one design first time! A real achievement - designers must be clients from hell... I'm going to try to summarise the essence of the above discussion a bit to try to find next steps (rather than barge in and add yet more opinions to the mix): ...

I'm likely a lone voice, but I don't actually like the idea of all tech support questions for all SE sites being directed to SuperUser. The reason is that a lot of these questions can only really be answered by the niche industry the software is used in...and unless everyone also subscribes to SU and tries to find industry-related questions to answer, it's ...

I feel like there's an easy compromise here. The rule is, be nice. It's possible to be sarcastic and nice. Laugh with, not at, and also help new users fix whatever problem prompted the comment; being extra careful to make it obvious that you're laughing with, not at, because the internet is a terrible place and text-based communication is always ...

Nice catch! But no, there is nothing else you should have done. Font ID questions must still meet the requirements whether they are answerable or not. The same should apply for a question closed under any other reason; lots of questions that get closed are indeed answerable. They get closed because they are not a good fit for our format.

I think the other answers cover my feelings, but Ryan, since you asked ;) While I do agree with practically all the pros that have been mentioned in the main thread, I honestly feel I have next to nothing to contribute any more when it comes to the site (accompanied by the question, "shouldn't it be the other way around since I'm a design grandma now?") I ...
