Please explain why this question is considered "tech support"/"easily Googleable"
I 100% agree (also voted to re-open).

Why can I still cast votes for on hold questions?
I'm having some serious déjà vu here - I could have sworn I just answered this. Turns out I did, a couple weeks back, on a different site.

Should I edit question with accepted answer closed as 'off-topic' for lack of effort (i.e what have you tried)?
I don't think you should edit it in effort, leave that up to the asker. Your edit undeniably improves the question, but it doesn't solve the root of the problem.
The point of that close reason is to ...

Idea.... close votes should cost rep
I completely disagree.
We want users to clean up the site. Making them give up their reputation to cast a CV makes clean up happen less often. The whole purpose of casting a CV is to say, "Hey, I ...

Please explain why this question is considered "tech support"/"easily Googleable"
I think the question may be poorly worded.
As I read it, it merely asks "what fonts are part of OSX so I can set fallbacks properly?" This is easily answered via a Google search.
Finding the names ...

Why is this question off-topic?
It does appear to be closed as off-topic technical support. That generally refers to issues with software which can really only be addressed by the software manufacturer, in this case Adobe.

Idea.... close votes should cost rep
I disagree as well. What should cost rep and not is part of the stack model, which has proved itself adequate over many different sites. Besides the fact that it would hardly be possible to enact this ...

Should I edit question with accepted answer closed as 'off-topic' for lack of effort (i.e what have you tried)?
The issue you will always face with vague questions will be does your edit in fact help the OP or does it cause another issue. Every time someone says "oh it needs X edit I know what they mean" I ask,...

Is it possible to add an updated answer to a closed question?
Not really. But:
Anybody who already answered before closure can change their post.
You can vote for reopening. This would reset the question if others agree to open.

Idea.... close votes should cost rep
I find the idea interesting, but the general idea has been discussed before on MSE and was pretty poorly received.

Please explain why this question is considered "tech support"/"easily Googleable"
How can I determine an OSX-friendly fallback font stack when I don't own any Apple devices?
That question, in and of itself, is easily answerable via Google:

Please explain why this question is considered "tech support"/"easily Googleable"
This is just the answer to your argument that it can not be Googled. If you Google for "fonts that come with OSX" you get the list of typefaces included with OSX.
Which list the fonts and has (crappy)...
