Guidelines for font identification questions

We've had numerous discussion about Font Identification questions. Here is a set of guidelines for those asking.

Are font identification questions allowed here?

Yes, the community has decided that for now font identification questions are acceptable here. As a community though we do ask for you to show some effort:

Requirements for the Question Title:

In order to keep the Question useful to others please use the following, or very similar to it in your title:

What font type was used in (wording) found on (the source)?

For example: What is the Font type of “pocket edition” text in Minecraft Pocket Edition logo?

For those wondering why we ask this, here is a quick look:

Bad example: Can any one help me find out what font is been used here i searched all places in web cant find it .Can anyone help me in this?

This is of no use to anyone. We don't know whats waiting inside the Question, and if we did answer then nobody else would ever be able to find it.

Better example: What font is used in this image "Uniform Center"

The issue here is a Google Search for "Uniform Center" finds a ton of different results. We're not talking about a major, well recognized, company. If someone else though happens to want to find the same logo they're going to run into the same issue.

This was also edited by one of our well-established members to fix the title. We'd prefer it if you'd fix your own title. Why? Because we don't know the source

Best example: What is the Font type of “pocket edition” text in Minecraft Pocket Edition logo?

Here we know exactly which words in the image are in question and where it came from. It would be very easy for someone else to locate the Question and Answer if they wanted to know as well!

Requirements for the Question Itself:

  1. Image of the type in question. Please do not simply link to it. Take a screenshot and use our website's upload feature. If you do not have the rep yet then include a link to the exact image, then flag it after asking to speed up the correction.

  2. Restate where the image came from, include a link if its a digital source.

  3. Please tell us what fonts you've looked at and which letters appear off to you. There are numerous websites available outlined in:

Tagging Requirements

Please include the tag as well as the applicable descriptors , , , , ,

For more information on what these mean please see: How can I describe the font I am looking for or looking at?

If you don't have the rep and the Tag for your descriptor isn't in the system yet, please state it and flag so someone else can add it for you.

Please do not include other tags like or which are better suited for questions about more technical and design oriented questions. is sufficient.
